This fund supports new curricular and co-curricular programs, activities, and initiatives selected as priorities by the Dean and her leadership team that advance academic excellence, enhance the student experience, and ensure faculty success.

Arts & Sciences Co-Curricular Fund

This fund provides awards to faculty members, program directors, and department chairs to support student-centered programs inside and outside the classroom. These programs are designed to enhance and expand educational activities for undergraduate students and/or offer opportunities for meaningful faculty-student interactions. Sample programs and events include guest lectures, field trips, attendance at cultural events and artistic performances.

Elaine Wong Distinguished Lecture and Co-Curricular Fund

This fund, named in honor of Elaine Wong's retirement after forty years of extraordinary service to Brandeis, provides support for lectures, panels, and other co-curricular programs and events in the School of Arts and Sciences that explore racial, class, gender, sexual and other forms of injustice and inequality; showcase historically marginalized people and perspectives; and/or promote a diverse, inclusive environment.

Undergraduate Research & Creative Collaboration Fund

This fund provides fellowships that will ensure all undergraduate students can afford to participate in research and creative collaboration opportunities with faculty during the academic year and over the summer. Through a competitive application process, the Fund provides need-based fellowships to undergraduate students of up to $5,000 for summer projects and up to $2,500 per semester for academic year programs.

Undergraduate Summer Science Research Fellowship Fund

This fund provides summer research fellowship awards to undergraduate science students, allowing them an opportunity to carry out cutting-edge research in their majors alongside faculty, postdocs and graduate students in a laboratory setting. These highly competitive awards provide $5,000 stipends to students to stay on campus during the summer to conduct and present research and work towards authorship on journal publications and honors theses.

Faculty Opportunity Award Fund

This fund provides awards to faculty to support and strengthen research, scholarship and creative projects through the following resources: research and travel fund awards; project-related expenses such as use of collections, acquisition of data and services, publication charges, specialized equipment and software; junior and senior faculty research leaves, including support for faculty who receive prestigious fellowships or grants that require “in-residence” participation at national and international academic centers.
