Hosted by Lewis '80 and Denise Silber Brooks '84, P'16 at their home in Richboro, PA
Coinciding with the
celebration of the 100th anniversary of Louis D. Brandeis' nomination and confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court, Michael Roffer '80 will talk about his new book, "
The Law Book: From Hammurabi to the International Criminal Court, 250 Milestones in the History of Law." An ambitious work covering nearly four millennia and the history of law itself, the book explores 250 of the most fundamental, far-reaching and often-controversial cases, laws and trials that have profoundly changed our world – for good or bad. Professor Roffer will lead us in a discussion about some of these milestones, including Justice Brandeis' celebrated 1890 Harvard Law Review article on The Right to Privacy.
Michael Roffer is a professor of legal research and associate librarian for reader services at New York Law School. He teaches a variety of legal research classes and engages in scholarly research with both faculty and students.
